Leave for Singapore

Last day in Thailand before leaving for Singapore, then Canada the next day.

Woke up 6am to catch an 11am flight -- Tiger Airway again.

Caught a motorcycle-taxi and drove through early-morning traffic to the nearest BTS, Victory Monument. Remember this when getting to Suvarnabhumi Airport -- go to the eastern-most BTS stop, On Nut. Catch a public transit from there to the out-of-town bus station. The other option is taking a taxi, which will cost $50CAD. The bus cost me less than 1$. At the aforementioned bus station, there is a free airport shuttle.

For breakfast I had some meat skewers with rice. Some glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaf and for dessert -- several bags of fruit; pineapple, mango and the red crispy fruit I forget the name of.

Suvarnabhumi is magnificent. A steel pole & white canvass roof structure, snaking along in an organic, grounded fashion. Some say the airport is no good -- I found it fine.

11am flight down-country, over Malaysia into Singapore.

Met Dominic, and we spent the rest of the day getting me settled into backpacker-lodging on Carpenter Street. We met a British gal whom we took out for a stroll along the Clark Quay. This is the premium-venue for tourists who have money to burn. After watching people spending money on food and beverage more American than Asian, we decided to go to a Real Singapore; an outdoor Satay Experience, a short walk from the Quay. The Satay Club is an amazing thing if you are a fan of the satay. There about 16 stalls lined up in a row, with a vast seating area in front. Pick your stall, pick your satay and grab a table. Very informal, very comfortable, very delicious and very authentic. People who miss this miss much. The best Satay Stall is #1, Phatman Satay.
